The games below are not necessarily advertising themselves as replicating the experience of war. Games are entertainment, after all, and there's nothing fun about going through war. It's not really something anyone would want to experience, either. What if they still want some games set during the same period, though? Still, this might be enough to convince gamers to pick it up and give it a try.
It still has the same level of polish most entries in the series have and players are never hard-pressed to find an active lobby for some multiplayer mayhem. That is not to say it is of poor quality or not worth playing, however. Call of Duty 2 is not just one of the best war games of all time, but is one of the greatest first person shooters to ever grace the medium.Call of Duty: Vanguard is not the most beloved entry in the franchise. Graphically, the game looks great and the multiplayer was a blast to play with friends. The constant shift in character perspective helped remove the tedium of just shooting soldiers, while the plethora of weapons allowed players to try out new ways of dealing death. However, it goes beyond that as the gameplay was utterly fantastic with firefights and dramatic moments filled throughout the rather lengthy campaign. From the unique campaigns that are set across three different armies (Russian, American, and British) to the wonderful characters that inhabit it, Call of Duty 2 was truly the greatest hits for the war genre. Taking every aspect of the FPS genre and refining it to a near perfect point, there is no part of this title that doesn’t stand out.
There have been a plethora of titles set in World War II, but none are more iconic than 2005’s Call of Duty 2.
